H. Arnel Johnson Passes At Irena

Mr. H. Arnel Johnstone, a lifelong resident of the Township of Matilda, passed away at the Brockville General Hospital the night of December 29th, 1944 at the age of 69 years. Death followed a brief illness. In the years recently passed however, Mr. Johnstone, had not enjoyed vigorous health.

Arnel Johnstone, as he was familiarly known, was a man who by virtue of a king nature and long association had come into a place of affectionate regard in a wide community of friends. He was born at Hainsville, the youngest son of William Johnstone and Almira Shaver, deceased. While still a young man he kept a general store at Hainsville and later owned and operated a farm in the fourth concession, west of Dixon’s Corners. In 1894 he married Mary Lou Abbott, who died in 1926. The past several years, Mr. Johnstone had lived at the home of his sister, Mrs. J.N. Bouck. In religion he was an Anglican and in politics, a Conservative.

He is survived by three brothers, Richard of Hainsville; Edson and Leslie of Iroquois; besides his sister
