Gerald Warren, 77
Gerald Russell Warren, 77, of RR 4 Mallorytown (Rockfield) died July 15 at Kingston General Hospital of chronic pulmonary fibrosis, diagnosed last March.
He was born to Gordon Harry Warren and his wife, the former Sarah Margaret Ruttle on April 13, 1920, in Rockfield, where he was raised and educated and lived all his life. On June 26, 1948, he married the former Inez Mary Aboud in Mallorytown.
Mr. Warren was a farmer and also worked as a foreman at Charleston Lake Park from 1969 to 1986. He had not retired yet.
He attended Lansdowne United Church and was a member of the church’s official board and its board of stewards for many years, as well as being an elder for several years. He was also a member of the Lansdowne Orange Lodge.
Mr. Warren enjoy carpentry, gardening and woodcarving. A kind man with a generous spirit, he enjoyed his nine grandchildren.
Besides his wife Inez, he is survived by two sons, Calvin Charles Warren and Dean Russell Warren, both of Mallorytown; two daughters, (Cheryl) Yvonne Szeghalmi of Oshawa and Patricia Elaine Spencer of Beaconsfield, Que; sisters Marjorie Dorman of Brockville and Greta Aldrich of London, Ont. and nine grandchildren.
He was predeceased by both parents, brother Harry Allison Warren and sister Audrey Evelina Warren.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Lansdowne, on July 17. The funeral was held July 18 at Lansdowne United Church, with Rev. Gail Conrick officiating. During the service, a memorial poem written by Dean Warren was read.
Honorary pallbearers were George Burns, Bill Webster, Gary Endhoven, Bruce McCready, Grant Haskin, Mike Lynch, Don Grant, Darrin Dunn and Doug Earl.
Memorial donations to the Lansdowne Union Cemetery, Canadian Cancer Society, and Lung Association will be gratefully acknowledged.
