Williamsburg Couple Celebrate 25th Anniversary

A delightful At Home took place on Friday, December 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Wingard, Williamsburg, when they celebrated the 25th anniversary of their marriage.

Some fifty relatives and friends gathered to inake the occasion one to be remembered for a long time and to honor Mr. and Mrs. Wingard on their silver wedding anniversary.

It was on December 12th, 1916 at 12:30 noon, that Miss Jennie Helena Montgomery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Montgomery of Pittston was united in marriage to Mr. Geo. B. Wingard, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wingard of Williamsburg. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Chas. A. Mullin of Spencerville, (now located at Richmond Hill) at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride of twenty-five years ago was most charming in a gown of orchid sheer, street length, with a corsage of Talisman roses in a deep shade of pink. The reception rooms were tastefully decorated with cut flowers, pink and white predominating. At 12:30 a delicious and bountiful dinner was served to about 20 guests. Pink and white streamers joined with a silver bell decorated the dining room, and the table, nicely arranged, was centred with a three tier wedding cake decorated to suit the occasion. White mums and pink carnations also graced the table.

The guests were received at the door by Mrs. Chas. S. Wingard of Moulinette and included, Mrs. Albert Montgomery of Pittston, mother of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Millar, Mr. and Mrs. George Montgomery, Mr. and Mrs. Presley Montgomery and Mr. Addison Montgomery, all of Pittston; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Briggs, Brinston; Mrs. Etta Alguire, Mrs. Simon Algire, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Wingard, all of Williamsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Barkley of Inkerman; Mrs. Chas. S. Wingard of Moulinette and Mrs. Reuben C. Casselman of Williamsburg.

Miss Gladys M. Wingard, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George B. Wingard, acted as hostess, assisted by Miss Gladys Cunningham, Mrs. Frank McMillan and Mrs. Harold McIntosh.

The afternoon and evening were pleasantly spent, other friends and neighbours arriving to extend their congratulations and good wishes.

Mr. and Mrs. Wingard received many beautiful gifts as well as numerous cards and telephone calls during the day, and the entire community joins in wishing them many more years of blessed wedlock.
