Friends Honor Mr.-Mrs. Barkley 35th Anniversary
Williamsburg-Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barkley, esteemed residents of Williamsburg, were pleasantly surprised on Thursday evening when about 20 relatives gathered at their home in the Sixth Concession of Williamsburg on the occasion of their 35th anniversary of their wedding. The evening was spent in reminiscing until about 1 o’clock the honored couple was called when an address was read by Mrs. Aden Casselman, a sister of the bride of 35 years ago. At the same time the presentation of a pink and blue reversible blanket was made to Mr. and Mrs. Barkley by Mrs. Dalton Robinson, a niece of Mrs. Barkley.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Barkley made suitable replies, thanking all for the lovely gift and kind words expressed in the address, after which all joined in singing “For They are Jolly Good Fellows”.
A delicious lunch provided by the visiting ladies was served, the tea table being centred with a decorated wedding cake and topped with a miniature bride and groom, a gift from Mrs. Victor Riddell, a niece of Mrs. Barkley.
Mrs. Barkley was formerly Miss Bertha Dillabough a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lemeul Dillabough. Mr. Barkley’s parents were the late Herman H. Barkley and Martha McIntosh.
